It seems like yesterday that we gave the unfortunate news that the 2020 RAGBRAI was cancelled. Well, registration for the 2021 RAGBRAI is now open for registrations.

The 2021 Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) registration is now officially open to riders. Even though bike riders couldn't participate in this years ride because of COVID-19, there is a lot of optimism for the ride to happen in 2021.

Back in April, officials from RAGBRAI announced that this years ride across Iowa would not happen due to the COVID-19 pandemic. RAGBRAI was one of the first of many events to get called because of the pandemic. With a new vaccine getting ready to be rolled out in U.S., riders and officials are feeling good about 2021.

In a press release, officials from RAGBRAI said,

"While we are optimistic about a safe and healthy ride in 2021, we know some things will have to change to ensure the safety and health of all. To that end, we are planning for several contingencies due to COVID-19 and will release a detailed FAQ with registration."

Registration for RAGBRAI 2021 officially opened on Monday.

For riders who wanted to ride the original route that RAGBRAI officials planned for 2020, have no worry. The 2021 RAGBRAI route is the exact same, expect for the Friday overnight stop in Maquoketa. According to officials,

"Unfortunately, Maquoketa had to withdraw as the Friday overnight town due to construction projects that can’t be avoided. We are working on a new overnight town and will announce them as soon as possible."

As it stands now, the current 2021 RAGBRAI route is Le Mars, Storm Lake, Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls, Waterloo, Anamosa, TBA, and ending in Clinton. The ride will begin on July 25 and end July 31.
