The 11th annual Royal Ball Run for Autism is coming up on Saturday, June 18th in Milan. The 5K race begins at 8 a.m. that Saturday morning at the Milan HyVee 4th Street entrance. The finish line is at the same location.
Back on March 1st, registration opened for the 11th annual Royal Ball Run for Autism and the Heroes & Highnesses Walk. The registration fee for the 5K race is $25 through May 31st. After that, the price goes up to $30. The registration website says that any 5K registrant can participate in the Heroes & Highnesses 1/2 mile walk for free. Registration for just the walk is $10.
There is a 1/4 Mile Prince & Princess Fun Run on Friday, June 17. That begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be held during the Royal Ball for All at the Camden Centre. The registration fee for the Prince & Princess Fun Run is $10.
The Royal Ball Run for Autism is also holding its annual Taco Night to kick off the 2022 Royal Ball Run for Autism season. According to their Facebook Event, it will feature taco dinners including two tacos, rice, beans, chips, and salsa from Rudy's Tacos when you donate to Royal Ball Run.
Taco Night takes place at the Camden Centre on Thursday, April 7, from 5-7:30 p.m.
Officials say there will also be a bake sale and incredible raffle prizes during Taco Night. You can also get yard signs and posters to help promote their carnival and race events scheduled for the weekend of June 17-18.
According to the website, the inspiration for the Royal Ball Run for Autism organization comes from the now 1 in 59 children who are diagnosed with autism each year. The race is to celebrate their achievements, their courage, and their future.
The organization's goal is to increase awareness of autism and to support families and children touched by autism. Proceeds from the Royal Ball Run for Autism support local programs dedicated to autism treatment and awareness.
In the first 10 years, the Royal Ball Run for Autism has invested more than $300,000 in local autism programs. Officials say that is all thanks to the support of participants, partners, and sponsors. In addition to local autism programs, Royal Ball Run for Autism has developed a Quad City area autism resource guide, The Royal Guide, which can be found here.
