WATCH: Driver Fails To Yield To Rockridge School Bus In Scary Video
Common driving sense really has lost the plot.
Was yielding to school buses not one of the first things we were taught when we got our learner's permit?
Evidently not this driver.
You know (or should) that if you're driving really anytime 3-5ish in the afternoon, you'll probably encounter a school bus. No matter which side of the road it's on to you, you stop. Not slow down, not "try to beat it", you just stop.
A scary moment in the Rockridge School District was captured on camera and shared by the school district. An oncoming truck didn't really care about the kids' safety as they were being dropped off.
Watch with the volume on:
Rockridge School District says they've been dealing with this problem from the start of the school year.
I get being in a hurry but it is a school bus. Full of kids. The arm with the giant, obvious stop sign is out. Stop. Not difficult.
The district told KWQC that they're taking all kinds of additional precautions to help protect the littles, like putting more flashing lights on their buses, reinterating school bus safety to the kids, and putting up 'slow down' signs all over town.
Yet people are still acting a fool like this person.
Hope being in a rush that day was worth it. In Illinois, if you're caught ignoring a school bus like this driver, you'll get a $300 fine and your license suspended for 3 months if it's a first-time offense. If you're caught doing the same thing in Iowa, it's a fine of $345.
