How The Viral Photos Of Bigfoot At An Iowa Park Are Really Fake
A social media post is going viral of an alleged Bigfoot or Sasquatch sighting in Iowa. After some very quick investigating by this writer. and with the help of looking at the comments of the post and common sense, it's pretty safe to say that Bigfoot hasn't been spotted in the Hawkeye state. At least not in this park.
It's no fun being the fun ruiner, but I truly don't feel bad at all when I tell you that the viral post about Bigfoot being "spotted" in Iowa is fake. Not only is it fake, but it's also not even the first time these photos have been used, and "the story" has been used.
The post, which has garnered over 3,000 shares so far, allegedly shows Bigfoot, commonly referred to as Sasquatch, walking in a wooded area along the Shell Rock River in Shell Rock Park located in Shell Rock, IA. This post tells a very short story about who spotted the Bigfoot and that person's thoughts when seeing the mythical beast,
"A Iowa man is happy to be safe at home after a scary incident near the Shell Rock River in Shell Rock, Iowa.
Barry Brown spotted a Bigfoot in the woods on the water's edge, and took these amazing photographs of the beast. “At first I thought it was a black bear, but once I got a better look at it I realized it was definitely a Sasquatch.”"
Barry Brown? That's the best we could come up with?
The post also says that the photos have been validated by "investigators" and that the team from Animal Planet's television show Finding Bigfoot has been sent to the Shell Rock Wildlife Management area.
The Sherrif’s Department is also apparently looking at the photos in the post to "verify their authenticity soon," the post says.
After a quick reverse image search through Google, this writer found the exact same photos from a story published by our sister station, WKDQ, in Kentucky back in July of 2021.
Ironically enough, the story of the person who say Bigfoot near a lake back then said something very similar in that post. Here's what was said,
"A Pulaski County man is happy to be safe at home after a scary incident near Lake Cumberland today.
Jared Arnett spotted a Bigfoot in the woods and took these amazing photographs of the beast. “At first I thought it was a grizzly bear, but once I got a better look at it I realized it was definitely a Sasquatch.”"
That sounds extremely similar.
Plus, Shell Rock, IA is located near Waverly, Iowa in northeastern Iowa. If you look at the photos of the forest where Bigfoot is, those trees look a lot greener than any other tree in Iowa in general.
Is that Bigfoot? Maybe. Is this post fake? Yep. Am I sorry for ruining the fun? Nope.
