Not everyone who attends Davenport Community Schools live in Davenport. Some live more west of Davenport and are looking for some changes.

According to WQAD, some volunteers have been walking around Blue Grass, Buffalo, and Walcott petitioning residents about creating a new school district in their community. It will be called West Scott School District.

Currently, there are about 1500 students from these communities attending Davenport schools. Some feel Davenport schools are too crowded, and having a smaller school will give the teachers more one-on-one time with the students.

Once enough signatures are collected, the team will present them to the Iowa Board of Education.
