This is exactly why politicians should never mess with comedians.

Two days ago, the Iowa Republican party hosted an event for the Republican presidential candidates to appear and discuss their platforms in preparation for the upcoming Iowa Caucus. Several media outlets were in attendance, but at least one notable show was denied entrance, and they weren't pleased.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah was banned from attending the event in Des Moines by the Iowa Republican party. Apparently leaders of the party were afraid that if they let The Daily Show attend, they would end up "making fun of Iowa." But comedians are clever, and being denied didn't stop Noah so much as it just annoyed him.

In the clip, which starts with a discussion about a new Twitter feature but soon turns to politics, Noah cracks several jokes at the Iowa GOP's expense, especially Iowa's GOP chairman Jeff Kaufmann, the man responsible for the decision to ban the show. He then goes on to clarify that he has no issue with the state of Iowa or Iowans themselves, just the Republican party and their slight against The Daily Show. Mr. Kaufmann is probably regretting his decision now that he's the star of this segment, but it worked out pretty well for everyone else. Check out the clip above.

So Iowa politicians, if you don't want to make the rest of us look bad, maybe don't poke the hornets nest?
