The Most Popular Valentine’s Day Food In Illinois And Iowa Is Kinda Romantic?
Divided by a river and food preferences.
Valentine's season is upon us, which for many couples, means going out to a special dinner. When you think about where to take your sweetheart, you may picture some fancy place that you have to make reservations at, right? It's a holiday to splurge on, is it not?
But the far opposite is also a romantic option: a relaxed dinner in, spending time together at home.
The Matchmaking Company looked at Google Trends from February of last year to figure out what cuisine couples are having on Valentine's Day in each state. And it does run the gamut.
Iowa chooses steakhouses, because duh it's Valentine's. Steak (especially ribeye) is rumored to boost sex-drive, as it increases blood flow and heart rate.
Illinois couples choose Vietnamese food for Valentine's Day, which is a good chill option that won't break the bank. Some traditional Vietnamese ingredients, like ginseng and asparagus, are also rumored to have aphrodisiac properties.
Mexican food on Valentine's Day seems like a gamble and a half, really. Steakhouses seem to be the national favorite for the holiday, with 14 states choosing them.
Some preferences that weren't mapped (considered 'Other' on the map) include Florida's penchant for Cuban cuisine, Mediterranean food in Michigan, and Indian food in New Jersey and Virginia.
Valentine's Day is probably the one day a year when you can't be indecisive about where to go eat. Pick a vibe, pick a place, and go for it.
