The QC Could Have Bitter Cold and Snowstorms Through The End of March
Sorry, spring lovers.
It looks like the QC could once again have a late spring (apparently, the stupid groundhog was wrong).
In 2018, we had a massive snow storm on March 24. The same scenario could happen this year.
WQAD's Eric Sorensen says the cold temps we've been experiencing this week will likely continue well into March, if not the whole month. He adds that this rate, leaves won't return to trees for a good six weeks.
The NOAA Climate Prediction Center reports we will have colder-than-normal temperatures all through March, so any precipitation will likely come in the form of snow.
The QC is already predicted to have 1-3 inches of snow this Friday, the first day of March.
When will it end? It's too soon to tell, but don't count on any warm, sunny days for a while.
