I don't know about you, but I love to eat fast food when I'm drunk. If I could have have all of the fast food restaurants in my house for when I've thrown back a few, that would be perfect. A lot of us also have a very specific place we love to get food at after a night out. A new study has come out showing each state's favorite drunk fast food place, and both Iowa and Illinois are in agreement.

Reading through this study makes me want to drink and go eat super unhealthy food. I don't know why, but it does. Our friends at Zippia wanted to find out each state's favorite place to go and be annoying at and also eat after getting hammered drunk.

To find out each state's favorite fast food employees to torment after throwing back a few, Zippia had to first determine two things:

  1. The fast food everyone craves when drunk
  2. Which fast food joints see the biggest influx of tipsy customers

To make the fast food list, they simply took a list of popular fast food restaurants, taking out those that didn’t fit and others with limited hours where people can't go late at night.

To determine the second, Zippia decided to measure google search trends on some of the “drunkest days of the year” Those days include the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, Halloween, and July 4th.

Even though not all customers are trashed on those days, the chances of them being drunk are higher. Zippia then took all trends data for each fast food joint in each state and averaged it together. The more disproportionately high the volume, the more beloved the fast food by drunk people.

Below are some fun facts Zippia discovered during their study:

  • McDonalds is the king of drunk fast food with 22 states.
  • 14 states do prefer Burger King for their drunk food.
  • Taco Bell is loved by one state, Wyoming.
  • Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina all love Waffle House when intoxicated.

Here is the map showing each state's favorite drunk fast food joint:

Zippia found that Quad Citizens are in agreement. Both Iowa and Illinois get some nuggets and a Big Mac when they are drunk. I guess you could saying that they are lovin' it.
