Spring time in the Quad Cities means one thing...flooding on the Rock River. If you live along the Rock, it's kinda one of those things you prepare for every year. You just don't know when it's going to hit or how high the water will go. All you can do is watch the ice jams and prey it doesn't get worse.

According to WQAD, the rising Rock river has started to recede. This has residents relieved. Residents along North Shore drive have taken matters into their own hands.

Flood insurance has risen just like the water in their neighborhood, so what have these residents done to protect their investment and their wallets? They have started rising their houses about 8 feet. Take that mother nature. It's kinda like living in a Lego house.

Get the latest river levels on both the Rock and Mississippi from the National Weather Service here.
