The Story Of Illinois’ Latest ‘Hot Salsa Felony’

Something must be up with people getting into fights over food in Illinois lately.

I understand getting snippy when you're hungry. After all, remember this Snickers campaign:

But there's been a wave of weird food crimes in Illinois lately. That includes what Patch is calling the 'hot salsa felony'.

On April 25th in Joliet, at the Los Comales Mexican restaurant, Jennifer Casillas sprayed another woman in the eyes with salsa. She also punched the victim, according to Fox32 Chicago.

A salsa's peppers (whether it's serranos, poblanos, or jalapenos) can really hurt a person's eyes because of the capsaicin in the peppers (pepper spray has a high concentration of the stuff). It probably won't make you permanently blind, but it will probably burn and blur your vision for a bit.

So now Casillas is facing 2 counts of aggravated battery and 2 counts of battery. Really, there should also be a misdemeanor charge of wasting good salsa.

Wrong Cheese Kills 2 People

In the southside of Chicago, at a restaurant called Momty's Grill (which claims it makes the #1 Philly Cheesesteak in Chicago), two guys got into an argument with an employee about getting the wrong kind of cheese on their sandwich.

But according to Patch, ultimately the gunshots could have been in self-defense.

The employee that was getting yelled at called her son to help. Her son was punched and chased by one of the customers. After that, the son fired shots at the customer and the other guy. No charges have been filed yet.

Man Asks For Free Food, Punches Guy In Face

Entitlement is a disease these days and it's clear in moments like this. A guy walked into a hotel in Glenview a few weeks ago and tried to get free food. Patch says this dude has tried this before.

After that attempt at free food failed, he punched the employee and fled on foot. He's facing an aggravated battery of a senior charge.
