There is just something marvelously wonderful about hanging at a coffeehouse. Isn't there?  Cool Beanz and Theo's in Rock Island are my two favorites, so far. I may have to admit, that I just might be a teeny, tiny bit of a  coffeehouse "groupie" or junkie-at-heart. Jus' sayin'.

Perhaps it is the aroma of the freshly brewed joe. Let me rephrase that. It IS indeed, one of my favorite aromas on the planet, so yes, the freshly brewed coffee beans is definitely one of the reasons I go. It does something deep within my senses. It calms my soul and makes me slow down my hectic schedule, a little.

It's interesting to me, that while I may be there alone,  there is hardly a lonely feeling. You hear the laughter of others, the chatter, the music. There is something pleasantly contemplative about just being in one. At least, it is for me. I go when I'm happy. I go when I am melancholy. It is is one place I am glad to visit nearly any day, all year long. I can be a wallflower or I can be sociable. Either way, it just feels good to be there.

I also love taking my children with me. In fact, we've been to two already this week. When there is open mic night, it's even better! The opportunity for culture and conversation satisfies something in each of us, for different ways and for different reasons. They love the smells and like to try new drinks, although we all have our favorites. Mine is a mocha...always.

I also like the at-home feeling I have in a coffeehouse. It's like I have somehow found "my people" without knowing a single soul or I can sit and talk to friends for hours. When I do go alone, I think about how odd it is that we can feel so at-ease when we may not even speak a word to the person less than 3 feet away from us?.

I also love knowing I am supporting local businesses and that makes the whole experience, even better.
