This Awesome Brewery Is Just A Short Trip From The Quad Cities
If you've never made the trip to Lionstone Brewing in picturesque Geneseo, Illinois, you need to go. Like, this weekend.
I recently drove down to Lionstone for the first time, and it was completely worth the car ride. Yes, I know, we have a lot of breweries in the QCs, but Lionstone was a great break from the norm. I loved that they have beer flights, so you can sample a variety of beers before committing to a full glass. Lionstone's Peanut Butter Back 40 Wheat Ale and their Vanilla Velvet Porter are two of my personal favorites. And they're food was amazing; the menu includes items like brisket sliders, mahi mahi tacos, woodfire pizza, chicken and waffles, and even dessert pizza.
I would definitely recommend checking out Lionstone if you're in the mood for something different. You hear a lot about QC breweries, but I think it's important to support small town, lesser known places as well. Plus, I had no idea there were so many cute shops in Geneseo. My suggestion is to make a short day trip out of it and hit up Lionstone for lunch. It's a quick half an hour drive from Davenport, and even closer if you live in Rock Island or Moline. They have a lot of great daily specials, including $4 margaritas every Tuesday and $7.99 burger baskets on Wednesdays. Oh, and check out that epic Bloody Mary below. That's reason enough to visit.
