This Has To Be The Craziest Bridge In Iowa
I'm not originally from Iowa, but I hadn't heard of this bridge until today. And now I think I need to have a photo shoot there.
Only In Your State brought the High Trestle Trail Bridge to my attention. The bridge, which stretches between the towns of Madrid and Woodward over the Des Moines River, is truly one of the most amazing landmarks I have ever seen. According to Only In Your State, the design is supposed to reflect Iowa's railroad and mining history, with its steel framework and black bands in the bridge's towers.
It opened in 2011, and over 3,000 people travel across the foot bridge every week. I'm personally jealous of all the joggers and bikers that live nearby. I am seriously mesmerized by this bridge and would love to take a stroll over it, not to mention all of the great pictures you could take there. As beautiful as the bridge is during the day, it looks like something out of a Sci-Fi movie at night when it's all lit up.
The bridge is not too far of a drive from the Quad Cities, so I would recommend checking it out the next time you're in the Des Moines area.
