Toys ‘R’ Us Opens New Iowa And Illinois Locations In Time For Holidays
You thought the giraffe was gone for good? Nope.
If you're an 80's kid or younger, you felt the heartbreak of Toys 'R' Us filing for bankruptcy in 2017. The company was liquidated and sold to WHP Global in 2021.
But now, it's the great comeback of the iconic Geoffrey the Giraffe.
The store teamed up with Go! Retail Group. Earlier this fall, Toys 'R' Us announced their comeback, opening multiple stores, specifically 10 new flagship stores and 20 seasonal shops for the holiday season. And now, it's their time.
Two of the new flagship stores aren't very far away.
Iowa & Illinois' New Stores
Out of the 10 flagship locations, one is in Iowa and one is in Illinois: Jordan Creek in Des Moines and Chicago Premium Outlet in Aurora. The good news is that these aren't just seasonal stores so they will stay open after the holiday season.
The other 2 Midwest states with new flagship Toys 'R' Us stores are Westroads Mall in Omaha, Nebraska and Towne East Square in Wichita, Kansas.
Out of the company's 20 seasonal stores, most of them are nowhere near the Midwest but there are 2 in Michigan, 1 in Ohio, and 1 in Indiana.
The new Toys 'R' Us flagship stores will have the holiday season's most popular brands, like Barbie, Lego, Hot Wheels, Nerf, and Paw Patrol. It's Toys 'R' Us, you remember what it's like.
There are still more Toys 'R' Us openings that are expected, besides these 30 new ones. You can keep up with those at Toys 'R' Us' store locator site.
