Two Popular Iowa Beaches Ban Alcohol
No summer 'shandy' allowed at these Iowa beaches.
While some people may feel their summer at the beach will be ruined without alcohol, there are others feeling relieved with a new law that will be enforced this summer in Iowa.
According to WQAD.com,
"The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has enacted an alcohol ban in effect for the beaches at Lake Macbride State Park north of Iowa City and at the Pleasant Creek Recreation Area north of Cedar Rapids."
While I think light and social drinking is ok at the beach, there are usually families and children around. It can become unsafe, out of hand and not something you want to be around. As is the case with these Iowa beaches. Alcohol-related fights, littering, and underage drinking became a problem so they did what they had to so other can enjoy the beach this summer.
Happier Iowa beaching this summer.
