U.S News Names Quad Cities As One Of The Best Places To Live
A new list shows the top 150 places to live in the U.S. and the Quad Cities area made this list. Not only are we on this list, but we actually made it pretty high, too. U.S. News & World Report released its list of 2022-2023's top 150 places to live in the United States. To determine who could make this list, U.S. News & World Report looked at the 150 most populous metro areas to find the best places to live.
The way a place could make it high on the place, U.S. News & World Report said it had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.
Methodology
For U.S. News & World Report to create its list of Best Places to Live, the metro areas in the list were evaluated using data from sources including
- U.S. Census Bureau
- The FBI
- The U.S. Department of Labor
- U.S. News' internal resources.
The data collected for U.S. News was categorized into the five indexes listed here and evaluated using a methodology determined by Americans' preferences. U.S. News says the percentage weighting for each index follows the answers from a March 2022 public survey. That survey gave people throughout the country an opportunity to vote for what they thought was the most important factor to consider when it came to choosing where to live.
After analyzing the data and crunching the numbers, this is where the Quad Cities landed on U.S. News & World Report's Best Places to Live:

U.S. News & World Report found that the Quad Cities, IA-IL, which is defined as including the cities of Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island, and Moline, is the 53rd Best Place to Live in America.
Here are the stats as to why the Quad Cities is the 53rd Best Place to Live:
- Overall Score - 6.3
- Quality Of Life - 6.5
- Value - 8.4
U.S. News & World Report also said that the Quad Cities is the 105th Best Place to Retire and the 4th Cheapest Place to Live.
Des Moines, IA ranked as the 14th Best Place to Live with an overall score of 6.6. Huntsville, AL was crowned as the Best Place to Live in the U.S. with an overall score of 7.0. U.S. News & World Report's list is ranked from the highest overall score to the lowest.
