Popular fast food chain Wendy's has announced that many of their US restaurants were recently hit with a data breach, causing customer's credit card information to be compromised. Information that may have been leaked includes names, credit and debit card numbers, expiration dates, cardholder verification value, and service code.

Wendy's believes the breach was caused by hackers gaining access to franchise point of sale systems by compromising remote access credentials. Although none of the effected restaurants are in the Quad Cities, nearby town Walcott, Iowa was a target of the breach, as well as Princeton, Illinois, which is only an hour away. You might also want to warn family members that attend Illinois State University, as Normal, IL was impacted by the hack.

Summer is also a very busy time for travel, so it's possible you or your family members have driven through some of these towns and stopped at Wendy's. Make sure to double check your credit card statements and banking information if you suspect you may have.
