One of my co-workers was asking why Locust Street is closed again. The reason is two road projects that started Monday, December 10. This according to a report from WQAD.

The first project has East Locust completely closed between Woodland Avenue and Kenwood Avenue. Crews are repairing and replacing water and sewer pipes and will continue with that work through December 19.

The other project has the eastbound lane on Locust shut down between N. Ripley and N. Harrison street. This to disconnect a sewer. This project is scheduled to be finished by Friday December 14.

Drivers who travel on Locust Street have been inconvenienced with construction and lane closures since May for sewer repairs. Those repairs dragged on until early November after originally being slated to wrap up in September.

What's that old saying about the weather? There's two seasons, winter and construction. Apparently we can't even count on winter's chill to give us some peace and quiet from barricades and orange barrels.
