Just add this to the list of reasons winter sucks.

Winter presents a litany of season-specific issues with everything: cars, houses, productivity, you name it. But as an adult, you should know how to keep your spaces clean, whether that be your car, house, or office.

It's only been a few weeks since Missouri got slammed with snow but several residents haven't received their mail and it's got people asking questions.

It's confused residents in St. Louis, as they've seen UPS and Amazon deliveries around. But there's a specific reason USPS hasn't been showing up in some places.

USPS recently asked everyone to shovel snow from sidewalks and clear a pathway to their mailboxes this winter. Why? USPS mail carriers can refuse to deliver mail if the situation seems unsafe. That includes things like slick walkways, a ton of snow piled over the mailbox, etc.

And that would ultimately be on you. USPS gives their mail carriers the right to decide what's safe and what's not. If you get a bunch of ice or snow, it's up to you to clear a path for the mail carrier as best as you can. Which is something you really should be doing already.

So the moral of the story: shovel the sidewalks, salt them if you have to, and keep the space at least walkable for mail carriers. No it's not fun but you don't want to miss an important piece of mail because you just didn't want to shovel the sidewalk.

U.S. Government's Level 4 Do Not Travel List

Many people travel at the end of the year for the holidays or to use up vacation days that may expire. These countries have a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory issued on them by the U.S. Government and should be avoided.
