10 Popular Iowa & Illinois Stores That Will Close For Easter 2025

It's almost the bunny's big day.

Somehow we're closing in on Easter 2025 already (it's almost a couple of weeks away at this point) and since it's the day of egg hunts, family, and Peeps (delightful candy, by the way), a lot of stores will be closed that Sunday.

Parade has a list of nearly 30 stores that will be closed for Easter this year, but not all of them are common in Iowa or Illinois and not all of them are the kind of stores you would stop in on a Sunday. So I narrowed that down to the stores I've seen the busiest on Sundays.

The good news: from what I can find, Hy-Vees and Walmarts will both be open on Easter Sunday, so if you screw up family brunch, you'll have a fallback.

But some more good news, really: you won't be as tempted to get out and spend money that day, since a lot of traditional weekend shopping spots will be closed. Perfect, since the Easter Bunny is already in a different tax bracket this year anyway. Easter 2025 is going to go down as a pricey one, for sure.
