10 Under The Radar Great Wedding Songs
It's wedding season! Soon we'll all be out on the dance floor with our drunken relatives celebrating somebody's wedding. At least, we hope to be on the dance floor. But often weddings stick with the Chicken Dance, YMCA, Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle etc.
Music is the key to your wedding. The party is what people remember. Not the dress. Not the food. Not the ceremony. The party!
Here are 10 under the radar wedding songs to get the party started and keep it going till the venue shuts down the power.
10 - Baby Shark
Yeah, I'm serious. Play this early when all the 3-10 year old kids are still awake and at the wedding. They'll all be on the dance floor with their parents doing this dance. It will be adorable and you'll instantly get all the parents onto the floor. The hardest part of any wedding dance.
9 - Taylor Swift "Shake It Off"
Much like Baby Shark, the kids will love this one cause its popularity in the movie "Sing". But now the adults will get dancing as well!
8 - Justin Timberlake "Can't Stop The Feeling"
This might not be exactly under the radar, but you just want to be sure the timing is right on this one. Again, play it early for the kids as well cause they'll love that song from Trolls.
7 - Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars "Uptown Funk"
A 2018 music study found that "Uptown Funk" was the most liked song between both conservatives and liberals. So when your uncles start fighting about some political nonsense, just flip on this one and get back to the party.
6 - Prince "Let's Go Crazy"
Everyone will expect "1999". But we made it through Y2K. So let's move on. And this will bring young and old to the floor.
5 - David Bowie "Modern Love"
A sometimes forgotten David Bowie song, but one that will slide in nicely to any Quad Cities wedding.
4 - Red Hot Chili Peppers "Love Rollercoaster"
You see your "alternative" cousins still sitting off on the side of the dance floor cause they won't dance to this "pop crap". Play "Love Rollercoaster" and watch them all come out and dance like Beavis and Butthead.
3 - Shania Twain "Man! I Feel Like A Woman"
Don't forget how many people love country music. But this one won't make the non-country fan run off the dance floor. Plus, your recently single Aunt will make this her anthem and be the center of the dance floor.
2 - Blue Swede "Hooked On A Feeling"
With a rebirth thanks to Guardians Of The Galaxy, once again young and old alike will appreciate this one. (Side note: Any "old" song that has been recently featured in a movie, TV show or commercial that can bridge the age gap should be added to your playlist)
1 - Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
From your family that rocked to it when it was released. Then your family that rocked to it when it was featured in Wayne's World. And now your family that rocked out to it over the last year because of the award winning movie. Everyone knows it. Everyone loves it. Yet for some reason it's never on the popular wedding song lists. Play it late at night when everyone at the party is feeling good. They'll all sing. They'll all dance. They'll all remember the amazing time they had at your wedding.
