Disc golf, frisbee golf, frolfing. Whatever you call it, it's one one of the fastest-growing pastimes in America...and there is a HUGE disc golf movement here in the Quad Cities. The Professional Disc Golf Association (yes, that's a real thing) has taken notice, choosing the QC to host one of its largest annual tournaments.

The 2017 Amateur and Junior Disc Golf World Championships comes to the Quad Cities next July.

Chase Roberts owns Iron Lion Disc Golf Supply in Davenport and will direct the the tournament. He spoke with Local 4 News about what makes the Quad Cities an ideal spot for the World Championships:

For the disc golf, you're going to be able to get about to any course in about 15 minutes or 20 minutes in travel time and that's with traffic. There's not many other places in the country that can host that many people and put that many people in one spot without having to send them on quite a good distance to go to course to course.

The Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates that the event will bring in around $800,000 to the community.

Sounds like a blast! Check out other local events below!
