Even the organization is asking you not to.

I love Girl Scout cookies. I get them for a short time of the year and I eat every box. But as you're out getting cookies at the grocery store or wherever you might be, watch what you say.

Any of us that grew up in the 90's or before remember that diet culture was huge (pun intended). I was watching what I ate at a very young age because that was the trendy thing to do.

Skip Saying Anything About It

Don't mention your diet, calories, or anything about the cookies being fattening around the girls. Moms are also begging you to curb the diet culture talk.

If you don't want the cookies, you don't have to mention that they'll go straight to your hips or that you'd have to "run a marathon". Just say no, thank you and move on.

Many moms shared Monday Dieter's request of phrases not to say:

  • Don't mention your diet
  • Don't talk about calories
  • Don't point out your body flaws
  • Narrate why you're not buying them if it's weight-related ("I'll eat the whole box" etc.)
  • Don't ask which cookies are the healthiest.

Remember, these are kids. They shouldn't have to worry about this stuff. They're not too young to be affected by talk of calories and weight either. Just don't use it as the reason you're not getting a box of cookies.

It's Girl Scout cookie season and life is short. Enjoy the cookies.
