So sad.

WQAD reports that Paul's Discount in Clinton will shut its doors after 54 years in business.

The retailer is closing due to a drop in business over the last few years, likely due to the increasing popularity of online shopping.

"We thought we could keep it going for a little bit longer, but we just can't do enough in sales to cover overhead anymore," President and CEO Rob Cassidy said.

The show will shut down temporarily starting Monday, April 22, and re-open April 25 in preparation of their closing sale. Paul's is set to close for good July 27th.

The store, which has become iconic in the area, currently employs 41 workers.
