It's always sad when a local restaurant closes its doors.

Unfortunately, a downtown Davenport staple has announced they will be closing after almost 20 years in business, according to WQAD.

The news station reports that Downtown Deli, a local favorite for breakfast and lunch, is shutting down due to a lack of business.

Although owner Alan Cahagan is open to moving the business elsewhere, no plans are in the works yet.

He told the Quad City Times,

Downtown Deli's last day in business is planned for January 31.

This is the second downtown breakfast and lunch spot to close in the last few months. Fresh Deli at the Freight House Farmer's Market building shut its doors back in October. Many other businesses near the river have suffered in the wake of last spring's devastating floods as well.
