You can't fly out of Quad City International Airport direct to Nashville. You can't do that from Cedar Rapid's Airport either. However that changes on May 17 when Allegiant Airlines will begin offering non stop service to Music City, USA from Cedar Rapids.

“We’re very excited to announce this brand new route from Cedar Rapids,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue.

We’re sure area travelers will take advantage of our friendly, nonstop, ultra-low-cost service to enjoy all that Music City has to offer.

The new seasonal flights will be offered twice weekly. That's in addition to Allegiant's current non stop routes that include Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Orlando Sanford, Phoenix-Mesa, Punta Gorda/Ft. Myers and St. Petersburg/Tampa. Eastern Iowa Airport has more information available here.

Playing around on the Allegiant Airlines website flights are being offered on Friday and Monday. That makes it great for couples looking to escape Iowa on Friday for a long weekend. Or families looking to experience Nashville for a week.

Flights are now booking from May 17- August 12. I found a ticket for around $200 round trip to do a Nashville weekend in June, and one round trip ticket for just under $100 round trip if I was willing to fly to Nashville on a Monday and return to Iowa on Friday. Of course, one has to remember the super low ticket prices don't include optional services and fees for everything from boarding with a carry on to printing your boarding pass at the airport.
