Apple Looking At Paying Up To $500M Over Battery-Related Phone Slowdowns
According to ABC News us IPhone owners could get a whole $25 from Apple, wow! Sounds like a lot. Joke aside this is coming after the company agreed to pay up to $500 million to settle claims over intentionally slowing down older phones to preserve older batteries.
Back in 2017 Apple admitted that it was slowing down phone performance in older models to avoid unexpected shutdowns related to battery fatigue. This was big news that made a lot of fans feel lied to. Now three years later 500 this settlement is what we are left with.
It should also be noted though Apple did not admit wrongdoing. As part of the settlement, the company will be paying between $310 million to $500 million, including about $93 million to lawyers representing the consumers.
Whats really interesting is that IPhone users who were named in the class-action lawsuit will get up to $3,500 each. The rest of the settlement money is going be distributed to owners of specific iPhone models who meet eligibility requirements. If you would like to learn more, or think you deserve $25. You must file claims to get the award. It should also be noted If too many people file, the $25 amount could shrink.
Now if you're interested in that $25 you should also know A federal judge in San Jose, California, still needs to approve the settlement. Yes there's a lot of hoops to jump through for this one, but many Iphone fans are still taking this as a win, and I will still be using my Iphone.
