Best Buy Opening Over 800 Stores
Best Buy has announced that 800 of its U.S. stores will now be allowing people to enter inside. This will be starting Monday, with a limited number of people being aloud inside. The number of people inside the stores will be limited to 25% of capacity, or about 60 shoppers at a time.
They also went on to say it would bring back more than 9,000 previously furloughed full- and part-time workers to help with the reopening.
Customers will be asked to wear face coverings when they shop. There will also be temperature checks at some locations, but the store will also provide face coverings to customers who don’t have them. Other social distancing measures will also be in place, along with mandatory protective gear for Best Buy employees.
Best Buy President of Retail Ray Sliva stated,
“Throughout the pandemic, nothing has been more important to us than the safety of our customers and employees,”
The Best Buy chain will also resume in-home consultations, which have been handled virtually since March when they they made the switch to curb side pick up. Silvia also went on to say,
“Since the pandemic began, we’ve strived to provide customers with as many options as possible for how to safely get the technology they need.”
The announcement follows Best Buy’s first-quarter earnings report which occurred in May, this showed that the net income fell to $159 million, from $265 million, a year earlier. Shares were down 2.46 percent Tuesday, but are now up 24 percent on the year. more information can be found here.
