UPDATE: As of 1:30 p.m., the lock down at all Burlington schools has been lifted. Bus schedules and dismissals will resume as normal.

ORIGINAL STORY: According to the Burlington School District, all schools are on lockdown.

The lockdown was suggested by the Burlington Police Department.

The lock down comes after one person was killed in a shooting in the Saunderson Heights neighborhood Tuesday morning.

Witnesses say over a dozen shots were heard in the shooting on South Gunnison Street.

There is no confirmation on whether the two events are related.

Preschool has been canceled and bus routes are being held at this time. Parents may pick up their children from the school building if they would like.
