The only time I ever want to fly a kite is when it gets super windy outside from a storm or something to see how long it will last. That's just the weird things I like to do because I'm a boy, and we like to break things. But for kite enthusiasts, I probably sound like a psycho kite murderer. Sorry, I digress.

Coming up at the end of April is an exciting event that I think you'll enjoy with your family. We got my daughter a cheap Barbie kite from Walmart last year, and when we took it out, she absolutely loved it.

Make sure you head to the store to get your kiddos a cheap kite with their favorite character, and mark your calendar for Kites on the River in downtown Davenport.

Kites On The River

The Davenport Parks and Recreations Department is inviting the public to come and celebrate National Kite Month by flying your kite high in the Davenport sky at Centennial Park (315 S Marquette St.) along the Mighty Mississippi during Kites on the River. The event is on Sunday, April 27th and begins at noon.

The scenic riverfront park is a perfect place to fly a kite and provides the perfect setting for outdoor adventures/ Plus, the river gives off a little wind (it feels like it anyway) making it easier to get your kite up in the are.

If you're competitive or a kite professional, you can actually compete in categories like best-designed kite, largest kite, and highest flying kite. There will also be a kite-making workshop for those who want to design and build their own kites to fly during the event.

This event is free for all ages, and you can find more information at www.davenportiowa.com/parks.

Many immigrants who want to become citizens of the U.S. have a lot of knowledge they need to know before being granted citizenship. As a naturally born citizen of the U.S., you probably think you know it all, but do you?

During the naturalization interview, a civics test is given. The civics test is an oral test and the USCIS Officer will ask the applicant up to 10 of the many civics questions below. An applicant must answer 6 out of 10 questions correctly to pass the civics portion of the naturalization test. Think you can get at least 60% correct? Let's find out.
