Will Iowa And Illinois Get A White Christmas? Here’s The Forecast
How magical will Christmas be exactly?
Our Christmas Eve/Day weather definitely plays a part in the holiday. Of course we want the good snowman-building snow while we're sipping our Christmas Morning hot cocoas.
Now, The Old Farmer's Almanac has announced it's forecast for Christmas Day and week for the States.
First: the travel forecast for Christmas week. The good news is that for the Heartland, travel is expected to be smooth but it could get tricky with snow in the Upper Midwest. Depending on where you're going you could run into some flurries or showers, so they advise you to watch out for slick spots.
And in true Midwestern fashion, we're running the gamut: from snow to warm to mild. Here's their map for Christmas Day:
Notice there's pretty much all seasons across a certain part of the Midwest? Are any of us surprised?
So for all of Iowa and Missouri, Christmas Day will probably be sunny and mild. For Minnesota, however, it looks like it will be cooler and mild with a chance of snow.
And for a large chunk of Illinois, including the Chicagoland area, it looks like it will be a cold, snowy Christmas Day.
The Almanac reminds you to check your short-term forecast closer to your trip to see if any frost is coming up that could affect your trip. Make sure you put your winter emergency supplies back in your car before the holiday drives too.
