The Clinton Police Department wants Clinton County resident's expired, unneeded, and unused prescription drugs so they can properly destroyed.

On Friday, the Clinton Police Department announced that they are holding a drive-thru event called "Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet" this Saturday, October 24. The event starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. This event is being held at Nelson Corp Field, home of the Clinton Lumberkings, which is located at 537 Ballpark Drive in Clinton.

During the "Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet", residents of Clinton County will be able to drive through and drop off expired, unneeded, and/or unused prescription drugs. Those planning to drop off their prescription medications need to remain in their vehicle  and should expect the process to take about 5 minutes.

Clinton Police Department and other local law enforcement is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to hold these "Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Events" to help residents collect unused, unneeded, or expired medication and dispose of it.

The purpose of the "Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet" event is to provide a convenient place for Clinton County residents to safely get rid of their unused, unneeded, or expired medications. The event is also meant to bring awareness about medication abuse and misuse.

The Clinton Police Department said in the release that they will not accept sharps, needles, or business waste. Clinton PD advises residents to not flush prescription medications down the drain and improper discard of prescription drugs can pollute waterways and groundwater.
