Enjoy Free Admission In July To Downtown Davenport’s Figge Art Museum
You don't have to spend much money for a cool summer day!
Summer is a great time to help kids learn without them even realizing it! July is the perfect time to take the kiddos to the Figge Art Museum in downtown Davenport.
Why? It's free admission for the month of July!
It's a great opportunity to not only support the arts but to learn something yourself! (Since it's fun to know things and you and I can only draw stick figures). There's also air conditioning so that's a win.
You can enjoy free guided tours Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and the Figge's free summer drop-in program 'Big Picture In The House', which features make-and-take art activities every Wednesday 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. in the museum lobby.
There are also camps for littles this summer.
Current highlights at the Figge include:
- Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight
- According to the Figge, that's "an immersive exhibition closing on August 2 that takes visitors on a multisensory journey from darkness into light through stunning glass artwork, storytelling, and music"
- The Golden Age: Featuring Northern European Works from the National Gallery of Art & it's companion piece: The Golden Age for Whom?
Other Free Figge Events
Besides the classes and the tours, there's also the 'America's 250 Talks', which are every Thursday in July at 6:00 p.m. and will feature a chat with American artists.
'The cArt' is another event that will be free on Tuesdays & Saturdays in July (except July 4th). You'll find the 'art cart' in different exhibits that will have books, games, and more to tell you about the exhibit.
You can keep up with the latest from the Figge on their Facebook page.
