Davenport Southeast Little League Wins Friday Game, Headed To World Series
For the first time since 1975, Davenport's Southeast Little League team will compete in the Little League World Series.
The Southeast Little League beat Missouri on Friday 4 to 3, clinching our win in the Midwest Region tournament and sending us to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA beginning on August 17th.
The victory didn't come after a string of no losses though. The Missouri team out of Webb City beat the Southeast team on Wednesday. That loss sent Davenport to play the North Dakota team. Davenport Southeast won that 3-2 and it put them back in the hunt. Friday's game was a winner-take-all for Missouri and Davenport Southeast. Davenport Southeast won it so off to Williamsport they go as the Midwest Champions.
The Little League World Series games have aired on ESPN. From Gamechanger's schedule on ESPN's website, it looks like, as the Midwest champs, Davenport Southeast will play first on Thursday, August 18th against the Great Lakes champs at 2:00 p.m. (The Great Lakes champs, by the way, are out of Indiana).
In the 1975 Little League World Series, the Davenport Southeast team placed third. The team from Lakewood, New Jersey won and second place was the team from Tampa, Florida.
