Davenport’s Southeast Little League Loses First World Series Game
Davenport's Southeast Little League lost their first World Series game on Thursday in a nail-biter of a game.
Southeast Little League, the Midwest champs, fell 8-7 against Indiana, the Great Lakes champions. It was a close game, Indiana scored the winning run at the end of the last inning. Two weather delays pushed the game back.
As much of a heartbreaker as it is, the ride isn't over for Davenport Southeast since the Little League World Series is double-elimination style. So there will be another bracket we move to play in. We will play on August 20th at 2:00 p.m. But that one is a must-win for the kids to stay in the chase. The kids were so close to victory, hopefully we can rally and win our next matchup.
By the way, if you were watching the ESPN broadcast, did you notice that their screen graphic called Davenport the "home of John Deere"? I felt a disturbance in the force from the other side of the river.
Keep Up With Southeast's Little League World Series Run
We've been keeping you in the loop with Southeast's trip to the Little League World Series and we'll keep that up. It's the team's first trip to the World Series for the first time in 47 years! The Little League World Series continues on through the end of the month and a lot of you have had opinions on one team's controversial homerun celebration at one of the games. But also let's remember this warm fuzzy moment of sportsmanship.
