Davenport’s Miss Iowa USA Could be the Next 2016 Miss USA

She's not your average 'beauty queen.' She's on a mission.

Davenport's own, Alissa Morrison, is headed to one of the biggest, most prestigious competitions in the United States. Miss USA will air on Fox June 5th at 6 p.m. CST.

I never realized just how much work went into the world of being 'pretty.' There is more to what's behind-the-scenes than just standing in an expensive gown and being pretty. I certainly have been surprised by following Alissa's journey on Facebook and Instagram.

Alissa has been advocating for education on human sex trafficking. She surprised me today with the statistics of this crime and how it effects children in the Quad City area. It's a mission that is not only worth her time, but worth all of ours, too.

I want to make sure we send Alissa off with the love and support of the Quad Cities as she head into a place where women support one another, encouraging the best from everyone and compete for the final crown of Miss USA.
