You Can Deck The Downtowns This Holiday Season In The Quad Cities

It's hard to think about the holiday season already, but it's better to plan ahead than do things last minute. Three downtown areas in the Quad Cities are calling on local artists early to help them make local business's windows look more festive.

Downtown Davenport, downtown Bettendorf, and downtown Rock Island are encouraging artists to apply ASAP to help them Deck the Downtown this holiday season.

Deck The Downtowns 2023

In a social media post this month, Downtown Davenport, Iowa, Downtown Bettendorf, Iowa, and Downtown Rock Island called upon local artists to sign up for the annual Deck the Downtowns.

Once again this holiday season, they need several painters to add some holiday cheer to storefront windows in all three downtowns.

Not only is this a chance to add the artist's portfolio, but it's also a regional window display challenge that will have judges checking out each window.

If you're an artist, officials ask that you please submit a brief artist's statement, capacity for projects, and any relevant samples by noon on October 6th to apply. Selected artists will be notified by Friday, October 13th. Artists that are interested can apply here.

The general public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite displays beginning on November 18th through January 1st. Artists must have their work completed by Saturday, November 25

The artists/teams with the top votes will be awarded downtown gift cards and a grand prize gift basket for the artist with the most votes.

No matter what, artists accepted to take on this awesome task will receive a stipend of $300 per business but must provide their own materials. See all the details and apply here.
