Illinois Residents Told “Do Not Travel” To These Locations
There are several countries Illinois residents are told "Do Not Travel" to by the U.S. Government and for really good reasons.
Just recently, Spirit Airlines and JetBlue Airways planes were shot at while flying over Haiti. That's not a situation you want to be a part of.
Since the holidays are coming up, many people will typically be traveling home to see friends and family. Some families might be taking a Christmas trip somewhere else in the world to feel holiday joy in the warm sun. If you're looking at your PTO account and realize you have a week left over you have to use, you also might be looking at a spontaneous trip. Don't want to lose those vacation days you earned.
Whatever the reason for your travel at the end of this year and into 2025, there are several travel advisories you need to know about. You might want to keep an eye on the levels 1, 2, and 3 travel advisories put out by the U.S. Government, but you really need to know which countries have a "Do Not Travel" warning.
Illinois Residents Need To Know These "Do Not Travel" Warnings
The highest level of travel risk that the U.S. Department of State can issue for a country is Level 4: Do Not Travel. As of November, 20 countries around the world have that warning against them for several reasons including:
- Crime
- Kidnapping
- War
- Civil Unrest
- Armed Conflict
Whether you're flying out of O'Hare or Midway, flights are most likely not going to these countries. If they are, it's to get U.S. citizens out of them.
These are the 20 countries you should not, and most likely cannot, travel to.
