America’s Worst Discount Store Closes 3 Locations In Wisconsin

Customers in key parts of Wisconsin's most populated city are without a discount store many people shop at.

It's a store that offers most of its items at a discounted rate making it a popular place to shop, especially in this economy. It's been recently ranked as the worst discount stores in America, but people in Wisconsin are probably more worried about saving money than shopping at some place considered "the worst."

Dollar General Closes Locations In Milwaukee, Wis.

Getting groceries and goods at a cheap price may cost customers more in gas money if they want to continue to shop more at the same store.

Dollar General closed three key locations in Milwaukee in one single month to start the year. Supermarket News reports that this is a huge swing from summer 2024 when the discount store opened 72 stores from mid-July to mid-August.

The Dollar General stores on E Locust St. and E Layton Ave in Milwaukee, along with store on 52nd St. in the Milwaukee suburb of Kenosha, all closed in January. These three stores were part of the 27 store closings Dollar General made in January. That's right, it all happened last month.

Dollar General was named the worst discount store in 2024 and is tied for last so far in 2025.

Dollar General did open 9 new stores in January, including one in the small town of Whitelaw, WI.

Walgreens actually had the most store closures in January. In total, Walgreens had 36 stores close last month with only 1 store opening. Walmart and CVS closed 3 stores last month.
