There's never any shortage of audacity these days.

We hear stories about porch pirates all too often this time of the year. Brazen people who will steal whatever packages are on someone's front porch. It seems like it should be a crime of days past, since so many people have doorbell cameras now.

And that's how it was for one family in Clarendon Hills, Illinois.

The family told ABC7 Chicago that they had $500 worth of presents stolen off their porch. It was right before 4:00 p.m. on Monday, when the porch pirate showed up on the porch with a red DoorDash bag and stuffed all of the packages in the bag.

Unfortunately, the family didn't catch him through the doorbell's talking feature but he did split really fast for one reason. Watch it:

The thief, who had help with this from a getaway driver, had planned this out. Homeowner Sarah Depasquale says that the suspect in the red SUV had driven by their home several times the day before to see if anyone was home.

As for what was in the packages, Sarah told ABC7:

Like kids winter snow boots. I got snow boots for me to walk the dog. Some silly things like that. I had a couple ornaments that were made for my tree of my mom. My mom passed away a year ago and why would you want them? So that was disappointing too.

None of Depasquale's neighbors were hit by the porch pirate but she did file a police report.
