Eastern Iowa Teacher Wins Award For Her Dedication To Students

The Spring 2025 semester is officially underway. Once again, went out with our awesome program with Famous Dave's to honor and reward an awesome Quad Cities teacher.

It's now time to announce this week's B100 & Famous Dave's QC Teacher of the Week!

Congrats to Selena Lopez, a 3rd-grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary in Davenport!

Mrs. Lopez was nominated by Jessica Duncan, also a teacher at Jefferson. This is what Jessica had to say:

"Selena is, hands down, one of the best teachers I have worked with throughout my career. Her love for her students is apparent every second of every day. Selena regularly goes out of her way to make students feel special, no matter the reason. Whether it's their birthday (she makes a point to also celebrate summer birthdays), academic achievements, kind moments in her classroom, etc. She not only teaches academics in so many different ways, but she also teaches them how to be kind and respectful humans, always. EVERY STUDENT in her room feels included, part of the classroom family, trusts each other, and knows how to include everyone and help others when it's needed. She works so hard to create a calm and loving classroom environment. She spent WEEKS and hundreds of dollars at the beginning of this school year moving classrooms and setting up a whole new space for her new classroom. It really is a sight to see. Her jungle/animal theme is so creative and fun; all the students know her room is the "jungle room.""
