Galesburg's first pot shop will be opening early next year.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed a recreational cannabis bill into law recently, and the state is gearing up for more marijuana dispensaries to open in 2020 (medical marijuana is already legal there).

Galesburg is getting in on the action with the announcement that a former Aldi location is being converted into a dispensary, according to WQAD.

The city council will take a vote on September 3 for the ordinance that will allow Nature's Treatment to open.

The new dispensary will create about 25 jobs. Provided the ordinance passes, the shop will open on January 1, 2020.

As far as pot dispensaries opening in the QC, Moline leaders are set to start discussing ordinances this fall.
