Gilda's Club Blessing Tree Is How You Can Honor Those You've Lost

A 24-year-old tradition continued in downtown Davenport with the lighting of the Gilda's Club Blessing Tree.

The Gilda's Club Blessing Tree is lit to honor the lives of ones who have gone before us and you can buy a bow, ornament, or a single light to pay tribute to someone you've lost.

The tree is at Quinlan Court at the corner of Brady & River Drive. Proceeds from the tree decorations will go to support Gilda's Club, which has free programs to support people in the community who are living with cancer.

Executive Director Joy Bush told WQAD:

Cancer is obviously a journey that affects a lot of people. Unfortunately, probably everybody in our community in some way, shape or form has been impacted or affected by cancer. And so a very big part of that is we celebrate the survivors and those people that have made it through their journey, but we also know that there's a lot of people that we've lost to it as well. And so it's just a time to celebrate those survivors, remember those people that we've lost.
