A couple who had gone out for a nice dinner came home to a scary surprise.

Gregory Poulos and his wife Angie Beltsos Poulos had just returned to their home in Glenview outside of Chicago. The couple had gone into downtown Chicago for dinner and were walking up their driveway when the scary moment happened.

It happened Monday night around 10:00 p.m. in the Glenview subdivision known as The Glen.

Footage from their Ring doorbell camera shows a group of men appear from behind them with guns drawn.

In a moment that isn't on the Ring camera, Gregory Poulos told NBC Chicago that he and his wife were forced onto the ground. But Poulos stayed calm in the situation, crediting his training as a nuclear reactor operator on a submarine for that.

The three men demanded the Poulos' personal property, which the couple handed over, then the men fled in a Jaguar SUV.

Poulos said:

We complied. That's, I'll say, how I was trained is give them what they want, you know, try to, you know, keep the situation from escalating and give them what they want and hopefully they leave -- and there really was no other alternative, frankly

Police say that the suspects are males, wearing black face coverings and dark clothing. Among the items stolen from the Pouloses includes a ring that was given to Poulos by his grandfather.

The Jaguar has been found though, in the 4300 block of Federal Street in Chicago.

Luckily, neither of the Pouloses were injured but they do hope their story reminds people to be aware of their surroundings, even in their own yards.
