How to Dispose of Your Christmas Tree in the Quad Cities
The holidays are over, and slowly, but surely, the decorations are making their way back into storage.
But if you have a real Christmas tree, disposal can often be tricky.
Can you simply toss your tree in the bin and call it a day? Well, that depends on where you live.
WQAD shared a detailed list of where and when to recycle your tree in the QCA.
Here are the details you need:
Bettendorf: Tree pickup runs until Jan. 10 on the resident's collection day.
Davenport: Same policy as Bettendorf- pickup takes place between now and Jan. 10 on resident's regular solid waste collection day.
Muscatine: City collection begins Monday, Dec. 30 and goes through Jan. 24, 2020. Trees over 5 feet tall must be cut into at least two sections. Artificial and flocked trees are unable to be recycled and must be taken to the Muscatine Transfer Center.
Moline: Place tree in its normal collection spot. Pick up runs now through January 17.
Rock Island: Collection through the City of Rock Island runs through Jan. 10. Place the tree at least three feet apart from the garbage bin, as they'll be collected by separate trucks.
All cities require the trees to be free of ornaments and lights. Do not place the tree inside of a plastic bag.
