It's spooky season, and it's nice to show some love to the movies that shout out our two states. Even if they make are states look spooky since well... They are Horror films.

Here are some of the best Horror Movies Filmed In Iowa. While they may not take place in our states they sure were filmed here.

The Crazies - (2010)

The Crazies was a horror movie that was filmed in Winterset and Lenox, Iowa. And unlike Other horror movies filmed in Iowa actually have the plot happening in the State of Iowa.

After a strange and insecure plane crash, an unusual toxic virus enters a quaint farming town. A young couple are quarantined, but they fight for survival along with help from a couple of people.

The Amityville Horror (2005)

Illinois 

while film and plot is set on Long Island, it was shot in Chicago, Antioch, Buffalo Grove, and Fox Lake, Illinois, and in Salem and Silver Lake, Wisconsin.

Newlyweds are terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a large house that was the site of a grisly mass murder a year before.

Children Of The Corn - (1984 & 2009)

Iowa

Both the original Children of the Corn, and the remake, were filmed in several Iowa. Those locations were Sioux City, Hornick, Sergeant Bluff, Salix and Whiting.

A young couple is trapped in a remote town where a dangerous religious cult of children believes that everyone over age 18 must be killed.

A Nightmare on Elm Street - (2010)

Illinois

While filmed in a few places beside Illinois, some key parts were in Barrington, Chicago, Cicero, Elgin and Elk Grove, IL.

The specter of a disfigured man haunts the children of the parents who murdered him, stalking and killing them in their dreams.

Child's Play 2 - (1990)

Illinois

opening scenes were filmed in Chicago, Ilinois.

While Andy's mother is admitted to a psychiatric hospital, the young boy is placed in foster care, and Chucky, determined to claim Andy's soul, is not far behind.
