Hy-Vee announced on Wednesday in a press release that once again they will be handing out hams for their Fourth Annual Hams for the Holidays initiative with Hormel Foods and local first responders. Hams will be handed out in 14 cities this month throughout their eight-state region.

Hy-Vee employees, alongside local law enforcement, fire and EMS, will hand out 5,000 Hormel Cure 81 hams to families in need. 14 events are scheduled between March 24-31, prior to the Easter holiday. One of those events will be held on the Illinois side of the Quad Cities on March 25. It will take place at the SouthPark Mall, and will begin at 5 p.m.

In the press release, Hy-Vee officials say that hams will be safely loaded into customer's vehicles using a contactless method to minimize physical contact and enforce social distancing. All event helpers will be wearing masks and gloves for additional safety measures.

All 14 events will last for up to two hours or until all hams are distributed, whichever occurs first.
