This morning, I got a strange text message from a mechanic's shop that said my car was ready to be picked up.

The only problem was that my car hasn't been serviced in at least a couple months. I chalked it up to someone mistakenly entering my number, but as it turns out, a lot of other people also got strange texts this morning.

According to 92 Moose, a radio station in Maine, a glitch in an update to a cross-carrier messaging system caused some people to receive random text messages. People with several different cellphone carriers were affected by this, a U.S. Cellular representative told 92 Moose.

If you received a strange text today, don't panic. You shouldn't receive any others, except for the weird memes your friends probably already send you.
