Will this question be on the naturalization test?

Illinois lawmakers may not have been able to agree on a plan to keep the Chicago Bears in the state but you better believe a new official Illinois State Bee has been signed into legislation.

Last year, HB 4438 was introduced following a push from students in an 8th-grade science class at Lincoln Junior High School in Naperville.

After a research project, the students began a campaign for a specific Illinois-native bee to be the state bee. They made presentations across the state and testified in front of lawmakers in Springfield.

And now, Governor Pritzker has signed off on it, making the black and gold bumblebee the official Illinois State Bee.

It's literally the bee that you think of when you hear 'bumblebee'.

Gov. Pritzker said in a news release about it:

Illinois is home to extraordinary insects and wildlife, each with an essential role to play in keeping our ecosystems thriving, and the hardest working of all is the bee. The students at Lincoln Junior High School recognized the impact the black and gold bumblebee has on our state's natural environment, a source of great pride to all who call Illinois home. They demonstrated the power of young people brought together by curiosity and civic engagement, and in doing so, left their mark on our state.

The black and gold bumblebee is actually a chonk of a bee- one of the world's largest bumblebee species, with queens measuring up to an inch.

Out of all the facts, it should be noted that all of the work done in the hive is done by female workers during the first brood. The male bees hang out on the couch watching football.
